Monster/alien paper doll - day 299

Busy time getting lost in Manga studio. Not sure where this idea came from, just popped in my head wanting escape!
This cute little alien has clothes still in the design process and should work like a normal paper doll.
Am in love with how cute she turned out. Originally was trying for a boy, but she pointed out to me she is in fact a girl, so pretty dresses and crowns are the order.

Book covers - Day 295-297

I had a request for new school book covers, and then went design crazy. I ended up with a number of ideas.
Using the great new digital art skills I'm learning, I have managed to put my designs together.
Now people ordering new covers have a wider choice.

Pressie 3 - Day 273

An extra present. I have been needing something extra to make for a 12 yr old girl. In the end, I have ended up with one of these to go along with school book covers.

The monster holds a school diary, but would fit standard notebooks as well. I made a couple of these as there is someone else who may get one. I had to change the pattern after the first. I forgot to add the width of the book to the overflap, so it didn't sit quite right. Am hoping it stretches?!

Monster balloon ipod cover - Day 259

a quick present for a friend of my daughter.
I like this little alien, he has turned up on a couple of projects now.
A number of times with a top hat, but this one is enjoying his balloon instead.

Because its felt its soft and cosy. Great for sneaking the ipod touch into school!

Monster Christmas tags - Day 245

I have been playing around with my new little monsters from last week.
I decided they can also work in the Monster Guardian division, as special guards to Christmas presents!! (and yes, it is time to be thinking about that time of year, especially if most people on your list are getting handmade!!)

CLICK HERE - Monster Tags PDF

The file is a PDF, A4. Ideally should be printed on thicker paper or card. Then punch a hole, tie a ribbon (or just add double sided tape too stick down)  and add to present.
Have tried a batch with christmas paper glued on the back. Adds a little bit extra.

Green Monster Xmas - Day 236

A follow up from the Red Monsters.
Used paint to change my red to green, sounds simple. Turns out, not! When I filled it, there were spots and lines that were still red! I think its something to do with the brush when I did touchups.
Not sure, but means I cant wait to get a program a little bit more clever then the simple paint!

Red xmas monsters - day 235

Playing around with some new monsters. I just used paint to draw them up and then added the xmas extras.
The reindeer ones are my favourite!!

Strange Creature - Day 117

a new strange creature.
I was experimenting from a sketch a friends child had done. Following the basic principles of drawing up a pattern with a middle gusset I quickly drew it up and hoped for the best.
Obviously, as a jnr pattern maker (aka... success by fluke) some things work, others didnt.

What worked? it all fit together!
What didn't? its unbalanced, even tried to push the stuffing to the end, but he still tumbles forward (big head)
Oh well, maybe a different shape next?

Monster boo-boo - day 114

Another Guardian Monster... this one takes care of your boo-boo's.
It holds key supplies like band aids, etc. It also has a second pocket for extra secret hiding.
This means the Monster also doubles as an Aunt Flo guardian (great for school supplies for the teen).

And lastly, has the added bonus of just being full of monster goodness!

Cupcake Madness - Day 89

Another one of those days where I'm counting food as craft.
An afternoon of cupcake making... and in all seriousness, I was just the hovering, icing stealing, guide for a fab lass.
OF course... the decorating is the best part of cupcake making. Todays theme... blue monster madness?! Also a chance to play with the set of icing writing pens.
(cupcakes are meant to have more icing then actually cake right?!)
:)

Voodoo tiny - Day 87

Just for a bit of fun.... 2 super tiny voodoo dolls.
these are only 2cm high, they were a suggestion from a friend who wanted to see if tiny ones could make earrings!! I just need to hunt down the earring stuff.
she requested evil vs good, so thats why they are different.

Reversible Bunny - Day 85-86

This is the second reversible bunny I've made. I am trying too get the face right and so have been playing with the pattern.
My first Jekyll and Hyde bunny was a great achievemnt. But the front head which reverses over sat slightly high, and the mouth wasnt quite right.
I have fixed the head issue and it sits right at the bottom, and the mouth is a slight improvement, but still some work to go. Looks very much like an evil rat!!

'The Encourager' guardian, yellow - Day 83

Forgot to photograph and blog this creation when completed the other day, so here he is now.
This Guardian is a bright yellow to help scare away the other night time monsters. Shaped like a book, he likes to snuggle on your bed and be read too. He also loves eating (aka storing) diarys, handheld games like the DS, PJ's and other treasures. being a super polite Guardian, he will cough these back up on request!!

He is also related to these other guardians...

The Protectors of Scholarly Stuff. (POSS)

The Other Encouragers
