Nz Fantail Bird in 3D - day 2

I couldnt sleep last night due to lots of ideas flying about. Had to get up twice and sketch some down before I could sleep.

Finally decided todays task would be to turn my 2D fantail brooch into a 3D version.

Some trial and error as I sewed to get the shape I wanted and the tail just right. he kept toppling forward to start with, but the tail works to balance him out.

His feet are tucked underneath under his feathers (ok, ok!...he doesnt have any!!) and his slightly rounded shape means he is a bit like one of those rocking toys, and will rock back and forward when you touch his tail.

I have a couple of fantails around my little place, so I am sure this one will feel right at home!
